"The Social Amplification of Risk Framework (SARF) was developed in the United States in the 1980s. This Framework described the various processes by which some hazards and events become a focus of social and political concern and activity (amplification), despite experts believing that they present a relatively low statistical risk, while other potentially more serious events receive comparatively little public attention (attenuation).
